Identifying and Working Through Challenging Co-Parenting Dynamics
March 2, 2026 • 10am - 2pm MT - CE credit hours
This training was developed for clinicians and therapists who work with co-parents of children and adolescents. Participants will be introduced to a robust theoretical framework that grounds the principles of Emotion-Focused Family Therapy. The training will offer practical tools and techniques aimed at fostering attitudinal and behavioral shifts in caregivers. Emphasis will be placed on strategies to help parents navigate interpersonal challenges, increase empathy, and promote effective collaboration, even in high-stress or emotionally charged circumstances. A case example of the "domino-effect intervention" will be used to illustrate the theory in action.
Through interactive presentation, demonstrations, and skill-building exercises, clinicians will learn how to support parents in strengthening co-parenting with a focus on their child's physical and mental health needs, including reducing the extent to which they polarize one another's caregiving tendencies. No prior training required. Participation can be active or passive. This training will not be recorded.
